still haven't quite figured out what I'm gonna do yet. I'm not in any classes..... work here and there.....I ripped up my kitchen to refinish it....umm, got out my chainsaw and cut down a tree in my back yard. I'm sure I'll think of more stuff tomorrow when I wake up.
This winter quarter is my last to graduate. After this, I will be working to pay off the credit cards I used for this application process, and possibility figuring out how to get settled in Detroit. Other then that, buying a lot a beer, and watching a lot of cable. I wish to go brain-dead for the next months before school starts.
Im gonna complete my elective year of Latin American studies and then goto Costa Rica in May to work with a health policy firm to get some field experience.....then Im gonna backpack around to Nicaragua, Panama, COlombia, and finish off by visiting my girlfriend in Venezuela.......gonna be sweet!

IF I get accepted into dental school...har har.
I plan to continue working as a Dental Assistant and hopefully take the exams for my X-Ray License and maybe attempt the RDA exams so I can pay off the debt racked up from the application process....why oh why did I have to apply so late? =(

Dental assisting will give you hands-on experience in dentistry before you begin dental school. It will also probably help you when you enter the clinic b/c you'll be familiar with working with patients and the names of the different dental instruments and materials.

get A's again this last semester while playing enless amounts of Halo, work out, get a summer job, and look for a pimp apartment that i can now afford on my future income.
Careful. If you start living like a dentist now, you might wind up living like a student later 😉Originally posted by shizzleDDS

You are already in dental school, what do you need A's for? Just chill and make money since most of us if not all of us will be poor next year
and then for 3 years thereafter. Well and may for another 1-2-3 years if we do specialties or residencies. But then after we get done with all of that we may start making decent money. All of a sudden the future looks much dimmer...he heCongrad to Vishal, but you havent told us what you are doing after your acceptances.
And it is not a bad idea to get A now
because if you ever apply to residency,
they will definitely look at your grades.
Getting straight C doesnt look very good, does it?

It really does not matter if you get straight C's from now on since we have been accepted. No residency or specialty will look at your undergraduate grades, they will be worthless the day you start dental school. Did your highschool grades and SAT scores help you get into Dental school? I don't think so. Your undergrad GPA and everything you did will not be looked at eitehr when you apply for specialties or residencies, they will look at your NBDE scores and you GPA from dent school. So don't stress out about your grades... it's all over...you are in.

Thanks EC. All the best to you. Fortunately, so far I have gotton
mostly all A's and a "B". I hope not to see "C" ever but no one
can guarentee that.

Actually, a couple of the dental schools i applied to asked for SAT scores. And if you plan on doing an oral surgery residency, they usually look at your college transcripts for the 6 year programs.
Nevertheless, those only played a small part in the admissions process. You're totally right in saying that GPA and board scores will hold the most weight.
but for my post-acceptance....i did enough to hold on to my acceptance and partied like a rock star. just make sure you guys rest up really well over the summer and do anything/everything that you won't have time to do during school.
I just trying to work and make as much money as possible cause I am going to need every penny!
im working in the spring and then biking across the US ... www.biketheusforms.org
I'll spend it in school not getting all C's and D's like some of the other posters that got in

Keep working in research, try to pay off c/c debt from all the $$$ spent prepping for and applying to d-school, and read for fun (it's practically impossible while I'm in school and I'm sure I won't have time for it as a D1)... it may sound boring but I actually did a lot of partying and traveling this year so I've got to be good now 😳
