Hi I was wondering if you guys could fill me in on what exactly is competitive for admission to a "good" post-bac program. I've been searching around, but couldn't really find anything. I know there's no recipe, but any help would be great.

I'm an undergrad at UPenn, pursuing a BS in Econ/Healthcare Managment from Wharton and a BS in Cognitive Neuroscience (haven't taken premeds though) with a 3.5 GPA, some research experience, some business experience, but no clinical experience. I'm not even sure where to look.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

If you want to stay in the Philly area, bryn mawr has one of the very best postbac programs, depending on your test scores, I think you'd br competitive, check them out!

I agree with drizzt, you look like a competitive candidate for Bryn Mawr. Just stack up on that clinical experience, not only for applications, but to get a feel of medicine in general. Also, apply early, I made the mistake of applying near the end of the cycle due to the fact that I had to wait to get a LOR. I got waitlisted, but was told that had I applied earlier I would've been accepted. I graduated with a similar GPA as you, however I also received good LOR's from a professor and an attending at the hospital I worked at, so think ahead about that as well. I don't know what your SAT scores are, but if you went to Wharton, I can imagine they are pretty stellar so probably no worries about that.

We have quite a few Penn people here at Goucher; I have no idea what their stats are like though. I would say that for any program you'll probably need some sort of clinical experience to demonstrate that you're serious about medicine. I'd suggest volunteering at a local hospital or clinic to start with.

Good luck!
