Post Bac + MCAT for DPM

Hi

I was wondering if i were to do a post bac (UC Berkley Extension) and get say a 28-30 MCAT, would I be more compettive for a DO program?

My undergrad gpa was a 2.9

(PS. username is my buddy's, hence the MD. please dont take that into account)

IMO,

Doing that is only needed if you are looking at DO schools. Remember, GPA is broke down to science and overall. A 2.9 overall won't kill you especially with a >24 MCAT. Just take a couple of science and general courses before next year and try to bump it up a little. If you are applying this cycle, the 2.9 won't kill you as long as you get a MCAT >20. However, you may be very limited in where you can apply. My suggestion, apply next year after taking a few classes here and there at your local university. Study hard for your mcat to get that 28-30. if you do, you should get in someplace either this year or next.

A 28-30 would probably get you a decent amount of scholarship money for DPM. In terms of scholarships I think it depends more on your mcat score rather than gpa.

Reality check: the chances of improving your MCAT score by ten points is pretty slim. How about shooting for a 22 first? In addition to that, if your science gpa is equivalent to your overall, you may not have to post bac.
