Hello,

I received a non science degree a few years ago. I am looking for a post bac program intended for people who dont have the basic science core. Also I have seen a number of medical post bacs have an acceptance arrangement with medical schools. Are there any such arrangements for dental schools? Thanks.

Ideally I would like the program to be in the ny/nj/pa area.

Thanks. I heard that temple had a program with a linked admission to the temple dental school. Does anyone know if that is still the case?

You can do an unofficial post bacc at any school you like. You simply go there as a non-degree student and take all the courses you need for d-school. Then you apply to d-schools and simply forward your post bacc transcript and you'll be good. I chose to go via that route and I got accepted into a few dental schools. I didn't want to spend a ton of $$$ on some "official program" because in the end, unless that official program guarantees you a spot at their dental program, you'll wind up overpaying and might get worse grades. I spent like 12K, meanwhile most people will spend at least 30K on type of an education.

Since it doesnt matter where you went for ugrad or post bacc you might as well do it in the school that has the most convenient schedule, easy/moderate course work and that has a cheap tuition.

Thanks. Can you expand on what you mean by it not mattering where you went for undergrad or post bac?

My concern is that while my undergrad degree is good, that an official post bacc with a really high gpa would give me an advantage. Do you think the same will apply if it is an unofficial post bacc?

Also given that time is a bit of a factor, what is your opinion on taking science courses beyond the basic requirements? Did you just do the basic core, or did you take additional courses?
