Basically I'll have a 3.35-3.4 cumulative and science GPA by the time I graduate with a total of 135ish credits. I know it's not awful but it's not really competitive for MD. My question is what plan should I take? Personally I feel like an SMP is a waste of money considering I have all the pre-reqs etc. and I have a strong upward trend: Freshman 2.9, Sophomore 3.0, Junior 3.6, Senior 3.9-4.0. Basically freshman year ruined me as I got Cs in multiple science classes. I don't know if a full Masters is worth it since if I get into med school it's essentially worthless. Finally, if I take a semester worth of classes with straight A's it should be a 3.45 or higher. I feel like this is the best route, opinions?
Taking at least one gap year
Not interested in DO so no retakes at all in that GPA. Haven't taken the MCAT but should get a competitive score.
Have multiple research experiences, at an ivy med school last summer, at public med school this summer and told I will have a 1st author publication/review in a journal (it's an internship)
Will have good volunteering etc by the time I graduate. Currently only 25hrs as I just started this year.
Finally, don't care where I get in really, would like a state school most likely but definitely not applying to any insane top 20 or anything. Is the extra semester to raise my GPA a good plan?
Thanks for opinions
