post bac

I know that you can take post-bac classes after you apply to fullfill requirements, but at what date do they need to be finished? Would it be fine to take a class the summer before starting dental school? (say- class in summer 08, starting d-school fall -08) I feel like I read somewhere that they would need to be done by aug.1, but can't remember where I saw it.
