I'm very interested in Osteopathic medicine. Which is fantastic, since I'm afraid my stats won't provide a competitiveness for allopathic school.

I'm looking at 3 formal post-bacc programs as of now: VCOM's, PCOM's, and Uni. of SC's program (MD). As a rising senior here are my GPAs:

3.12
3.12
3.04
2.70* (O-chem, Anat/Phys, 2000lvl Biochem was the triple threat)
3.28
3.80

*will retake concepts of biochem to utilize the grade replacement policy (C- in class)

cGPA: 3.17
sGPA: ~3.05-3.1
[Also, assuming I earn a 3.74 at the minimum for my senior semesters, I should graduate with a 3.3 cGPA]

I am studying for the MCATs now and until August/September, so hopefully with ample time I will score at least a 28+ by the time I apply for the post-baccs in the fall. My average ECs are not strong enough to help me into medical school this cycle, plus Cs for Gen Chem (Bs for Chem labs), and a C+/C in O-chem (B/B-) in Ochem lab doesn't help either 🙁 Physics was a B/B+ (As in labs), is a bit better.

I appreciate any advice. Will these stats be sufficient for these 3 post-bacc programs? Would an SMP provide a better chance for an MD/DO success, or will that be overkill?

With a 3.3 GPA, I'd just not even consider a Post-bacc. Aim for an SMP and do it right. 👍

Why do you say that?
Because its unlikely you will be able to raise your cGPA or sGPA up to competitive levels with a post-bac. However, in an SMP your grades will be in a graduate GPA instead of an undergrad. It also proves you can do upper level sciences

But if you want DO, than you could do prob just take the MCAT now and apply. DOs aren't as competitive as MD. If you want to keep the MD door open tho, you'd need the SMP
