Hi there,

I'm a PhD student with a BS in biology and I have almost all of the pre-reqs for med school (save organic 2). The problem is I don't have the grades. Are there any programs out there designed for people in my situation? Most of the programs in my area (Baltimore) seem to require that you have at least a B average and very little, if any pre reqs.

Harvard Extension might be exactly what you need. There are also a lot of students in that program that are older and while they might not have a PhD, the program may be a good fit for you. There's a poster on here that started out with a 2.5-2.6 GPA and raised it to 3.0 and has a 40 MCAT and is applying this cycle that went to HES.

Awesome. Thanks drizzt.

Does anybody know of other post-baccs similar to Harvard's (i.e. for people that have most of the pre-reqs and want to boost GPA)?

I would like to do a post-doc while taking classes and studying for the MCAT to continue doing research and so that I don't go into med school with a ton of debt, because I know I'll be coming out with a mountain!

So the places I've been looking at post-docs have been Columbia, University of Wisconsin and UC Berkeley. I have added Harvard to that list as of today.

Thanks.

U Penn Special Science has a similar program for people who would like to boost GPA... I'm not sure how Columbia or NYU look at people with previous science. You could probably just take classes at UW if you were enrolled there without being in a formal program.

That's about what I expected.
