For those of you non-trads out there who had never taken any science courses previously and enrolled in a post-bacc program, what are your science GPAs like? Mine is a 3.6, and while this is a little above average, it still doesn't seem as high as some of the other post-baccs i know who all have 3.8 +.

Also, it's 10 days before the MCAT and i went down from a 27 on the last two practice tests to a 23. I went down 4 points in verbal my best subject!) I should be scared shouldn't I?

Don't scared about the MCAT. That's how you lose points. Go in, take a deep breath, and take the test. Each question tests a basic scientific concept, so don't let the fancy language and big equations get to you.

With 10 days left you have plenty of time to review for another 4 days, take a practice test, review that for a day, take a final practice test, and still have three days to relax and do nothing before the MCAT.

Best of luck,

I went down too in the two weeks before the real thing last month! Luckily, I discovered that this is a common phenomenon! There's a thread on the MCAT forum by the traditional students that is dedicated to this very thing.

Stay positive and don't let your nerves get the better of you, like I did! I just got my scores back today and I ended up with my lowest practice score ever for PS (8), but my best ever Bio score (10)! So I'm happy and sad, but I'm NOT taking it again!! 29M will do me just fine!

Don't burn out before the test and don't worry about the decreasing scores! You'll be fine!!

last few verbals i took i did terrible, either didn't finish the EK ones or scored 6's in the AAMC ones. scored a 11 on the 4/12 exam. You need a break. chill out for a bit.

I had only taken 4 non-prereq science courses before I started my post-bacc, I think three B+s and an A-. It doesn't have all that much impact on your eventual science gpa because you end up taking many more science courses in your post-bacc. So, they will quickly raise your science gpa if you do well. It's usually a lot harder to move your overall gpa up since you have so many more undergrad classes than post-bacc classes.

Good luck on the MCAT!!!

I agree don't burn out BUT, is a 27 what you want? From my experience, your practice scores are about +/- 1 to 2 points from the real exam score. Your call, but would be more comfortable if i was getting 28-30 on the MCAT? Whatever you choose good luck!
