Anyone know of or attended a good post-bacc program anywhere in Texas? I had a decent, but not great 2.8 GPA in undergad and decent MCAT score and graduated in 2002. But as I have had a couple years off, I am looking to boost the GPA as well as brush up on the sciences in preparation for the MCAT again....

I am glad I found this forum, as it seems like there are lots of answers! I had put off the idea of medical school for a while, but have been very interested in pursuing it now, though I must confess, being out of college, I feel a bit out of the loop as to go about the whole process of how to increase my chances!

Any advice is appreciated 🙂

Welcome to sdn. I am glad that I found this forum too.
I have been looking pretty hard for the past two months at options in Texas and it doesn't seem like there are too many. My situation is a little different from yours though. It seems like you had plenty of science as an undergrad... I was all economics.
I have come accross two programs that seem like the may be good for you.
1. UNT- They have a formal post-bacc program. This is a certificate granting program.

2. TCOM

Good luck on finding something that suits you... Where in Texas are you?

If you don't have good GPA, you could check out "Texas restart", get rid of bad grades by retaking all of them. I know a couple of friends in CC try to do that. Don't know if you qualify. But never hurt to check it out.

Please do tell more about the Texas restart. Is it formal? How to apply? Any info would be well appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that in order to qualify your old grades must be 10 years or older.

How can we find out more about the Texas Restart program. I tried to google it, but there was no info. Do you have a website that will provide further info?

The only reason I knew about it is because of my pre-med advisor. Try googling "texas freshstart"

Sorry about that. Fresh start is what I mean.
