I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum or if this has been asked 1000 times before. Also, I'm so sorry in advance for this long post.

I'm in a predicament and hope I could get some guidance. I graduated with a low undergraduate GPA (2.96) and I got a 19 on the DAT (both cumulative average and science average), though, I eventually will re-take it. I was advised that in my situation I should look into post-baccalaureate programs and/or Master's program. I ended up applying to UPenn's post-bacc program. I also applied to Rutgers University's, Regis University's, and Rocky Vista University's Master's in Biomedical Sciences programs. These are all on-site. Furthermore, I applied to the University of Florida's Master's in Neuroscience, however, it is an online program and is geared more toward medical students.

I am a bit worried because I'm still waiting for a response from UPenn/Rutgers/Regis/Rocky Vista. I live in Florida and all of these terms begin in August. Granted, I did apply only 2 weeks ago, but I feel like time is crunching and I need to know where I'm going to go to find a place to live.

So a few questions,
  1. Is UPenn's post-bacc program good for those that want to go to dental school? I've seen mixed reviews and so I've been a little lost at what to do if I do get admitted.
  2. Does anyone here have any personal experience with these schools or know someone who has gone to any of these? Are they worth going to for those interested in dental care?
  3. Would it be a poor move if I did UF's online Master's in Neuroscience? I know online programs aren't always looked at positively, but I know UF is an excellent school so I thought it might be okay? I'm still unsure though and was hoping someone could help me.
  4. With time crunching as it is, do you think I should wait to apply for the Spring 2019 term when more schools are open for admission?
I'm so sorry if these are silly questions but I need an outsider's perspective because I'm running in circles. Any help would be appreciated. Again, I'm sorry for how long this post is. Thank you so much for responding or even reading my post!

Are you applying to dental school this cycle? University of Colorado has a post bacc program for students that get denied admission. It's a little competitive, I believe they only take about 5 students. In your case, you would have to apply CU Dental this year and then if you get rejected, apply to the program in January if denied admission and you would start the 1 year post back from Fall 2019 and pretty much be guaranteed acceptance into dental school beginning Fall 2020

Hello, thank you for responding to my post! I'm not applying to dental school this cycle because I'm pretty sure I'd be flat out denied so I wanted to go for a post-bacc or master's program. I actually haven't heard of this program. I won't get my hopes up because it is competitive but I'll do more research on this. Thank you 🙂
