Are there any formal or informal post-bacc programs in the USA that focus on learning the pre-med sciences really well, giving you a very good foundation for medical school?

I was able to sit in on Columbia's program and speak to some students, and I wasn't at all impressed with what Columbia had to offer.

I'm not looking for a big name school, some school that promises a committee letter and an application linkage program, and I'm certainly not looking to spend an arm and a leg on tuition and lodging.

If there's a program out there with small classes where people report a great deal of learning retention in the pre-medical sciences, I would definetely like to learn more about it.

Small classes, and a faculty with decent English comprehension and speech is a big, big plus.

Yes, I'm aware of the month of the year, thank you! 🙂

Just curious, why didn't you like Columbia? I did their program and felt I got an incredibly solid foundation, mainly because you're taking the regular undergrad courses instead of extension classes. I'm also not sure how many universities you'll find that offer small intro science classes. But mainly, wherever you go, how much you get out of a school depends on how much you put in... Good luck!

It really seems to be no different than what a typical state university curriculum offers. The only possible justification for such an expenditure that I can foresee is the fact that the post bacc office hooks you up with some very good volunteer opportunities. Some would consider the very high tuition worth it just for that, not to mention the Columbia name -- if one can swing the tuition.

I'll put my work into an affordable program elsewhere, thanks 🙂

Good luck!

You too!
