post bacc program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Have you considered doing a post-bacc a la carte instead? It will likely be cheaper and getting started is as easy as applying to any 4 year institution.

I am leaning towards the structured post-bacc program in order to prepare me specifically for the MCAT and access to various resources

You know what's best for you, but the amount of "MCAT preparedness" and "resources" you get at formal post bacc programs varies widely. There is a whole separate forum for discussing that kind of stuff.

I was under the impression that most of us went the informal route.

MCAT preparedness? That comes from doing well in your pre-reqs.

Resources? That's why we use SDN. SDN has far more accurate information than my advisor. It is certainly more timely. And it definitely has better lolcats.

I, for one, saved a fortune on postbacc tuition by doing most of my pre-reqs at... my local nursing school.

would like some advice in regards to applying to post-bacc pre med programs. I am graduating from nursing school this coming May. I have a 4.0 in nursing school and a 3.72 GPA from my prerequisite courses from a state university. Currently my combined GPA is a 3.81, but it should increase with my last two semesters being calculated in. Ideally, I would like to start a full time program in the fall of 2012. I have not taken the GRE. Can anyone recommend some programs that are in my reach? I am having a difficult time knowing if I would be a strong applicant just from doing online research. Programs I would be interested in include Northwestern, Georgetown, etc.

Thank you!
