What are all the schools that have a Post-Bacc programs that if you do extremely well in the post-bacc year it will guarantee you a seat in the next freshman class? Can you do post-bacc before you get rejected?

Well i'm talking about post bac programs that if you do B or better in the classes you take, which are a few 1 year dental courses, that you will be in the next entering class. For example, VCU has a D-5 program like that. I believe NOVA has one also. I'm not sure what other schools have it. I believe you have to get rejected first in order to do it. Are there any other schools that have this type of program? Also can you do it before you get rejected to improve your gpa and etc.? If so, where?

here's a link of posbac programs...http://hpap.syr.edu/LISTPB.HTM

Several schools have master's programs that you can finish in one year. The ones I am aware of are geared towards med students who need to raise their gpa and become stronger applicants. But since the first year med and dental classes are the same (physio, immuno, histo, etc) these programs can work for you as well.

BU Med schools had one (masters in medical sciences), Tulane has one (i believe master's in pharmacology), Georgetown has one in physiology, and Creighton has one.

I did the one at BU. It was fun living in Boston for a year, but it was expensive. I got to take a lot of first year dent/med school classes and I think it helped me with the application process and I will have a stronger foundation for first few years of dent school, so hopefully it will be easier and I will do better on the boards.

Good luck.

Did you have to take the GRE for that, or did they accept your DAT to replace the GRE. Also what other schools for masters did you look into before deciding? And also how many years was the masters program? Thanks.

Yeah it would be great if someone can answer this question. Almost all of the university in the list above say they either need GRE or MCATs.

I suggest calling some of the schools and see of the DAT can satisfy the requirment. Many of these programs will try to work with you since their goal is for the students to take first year dent/med classes to raise their GPA and be a stronger applicant. The thesis part is a formality in some of these programs. Don't get me wrong there are real masters programs that require 2 years, one for course work and one for reserch.

If you do call or write make sure you talk to the director or dean they would know more then the lady answering the phone.

Good luck.

Thanks for the swift reply. If you don't mind me asking. Did they accept you in BU with DATs or you had to take GRE?

I used my MCAT scores. I was prepmed in college and went into the program trying to raise my gpa and show the admissions that i can make it in med school. During that year i began to question my desire to go to med school and looked at all my option. I found dentistry much better suited for me since it will allow me to continuing to learn science, help others, but also allow me to work a great deal with my hands.

At the end of the program I took the DAT and applied to dental school - best decision I ever made!

Good luck. let me know if you have any more questions.
