Post Bacc/Re Applicant

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Those are good stats... did you apply super late, are you Canadian/int'l applicant, and/or do you not have sufficient ECs?

Did you receive any interviews last cycle?

I would give more advice but honestly I feel as if your stats (the ones you listed) are great. Don't need SMP or grad degree to show improved GPA, don't need to re-take DAT (unless you had a really low scoring section?)... leaves me to wonder if the issue is something else.

Hello,

I have previously applied a cycle before and am currently in the application cycle for this year. In the event that I do not receive an acceptance to a school, I would like to consider possible options for the next cycle. My current stats are GPA 3.74, sGPA 3.72, BCP 3.71 and my DATs were 20 TS / 21 AA. I would like to apply to the UCSF post bacc / SFSU post bacc program but I am not considered as a URM applicant. What routes shall I pursue to successfully build myself as a dental school applicant?

your GPA and DAT scores are stellar. Just get more experience in the field of dentistry, get certifications for various courses to be a unregistered DA. or just intern. So you can put down like 100s of hours of dental experience in the office on your application. No need to SMP when you have that high of a GPA Especially your Science AND BCP 😱

I have more than 300 hours in the dental field and around 200 hours of volunteer service and time in other interest groups. I did receive an interview last cycle and was waitlisted. However I applied to that same school this cycle and have not heard back. I did apply late this cycle (around September) to 13 schools. I have only heard back from two with an interview invitation although I have not received any rejections. As what happened last cycle, I am preparing for the worst situation and because these interviews are post-December, I do not anticipate getting into dental school this coming cycle. Would anyone be able to shed any details in applying to post-bacc programs in California. It seems that the Californian post-bacc programs accept disadvantaged students (one that I am not)
