Hey everyone, just looking for some advice here... So I applied to dental school early June and so far I have received 1 interview (from my state school, scheduled for September). Because my stats are subpar, I was considering doing a post-bacc or SMP to beef up my stats. I have some questions regarding this potential route...
Current stats: oGPA=3.1 sGPA=2.9 DAT=20AA 20TS 20PAT 22 Reading
I am conflicted with this decision for a couple reasons. First of all, the deadline for the SMP application is quickly approaching (for the Fall semester). The program is 11 months long, so that timeline would be perfect for being able to apply for the next cycle, assuming I'm not accepted this year. I don't want to wait for the January semester of the SMP because I would be applying to dental school too late for the next cycle. At the same time, I do not want to dish out ~$20,000 in tuition costs for an SMP if I'm just going to end up getting accepted this cycle... Not sure what to do here... obviously I plan on killing my interview but I'm not counting on being accepted and want to be prepared for a backup plan. I assume I won't be able to get my money back after dropping out of the masters program (maybe I'm wrong?), provided I get an acceptance letter... any help here would be appreciated!!
