  1. Pre-Dental
Hello everyone,

I already applied to dental schools recently and would like to look into the different programs that are offer just in case. Does anyone have any suggestions whether I should do a post-bach program or one-year non-thesis masters? To give a little information about myself, I am a biology major with a 3.6 overall and science. After this semester, it will probably be around a 3.53 - 3.56. I am also planning to retake the DAT again just in case I have to reapply. I just need advices on how to continue my education where it looks great when I am applying to dental school. Thanks a bunch!

GPA looks solid to me. I don't think a post bach/masters would be worth it. You may be better off using that year to work/shadow or get a job as a dental assistant/lab tech. Best of luck this cycle!

True. In any event, do a post-bach if you want. But do more shadowing and volunteer work if you are applying next summer.

I'm making sure my grades are solid in order to avoid post-bach incase I don't get in (aka avoid senioritis!!). I would say find a job dental related or anything dental if you have a mandatory gap year. 🙂 Good luck!

Hey there!

In Texas, they do not care whether you do a post bac or masters. As long as you do well. If you take similar courses to what you will see in dental school and do well, your chances of getting in looks good. I believe Baylor LOVES an applicant with a ton of bio classes. I'm not sure what Houston wants but after talking to Pierpont and a few others with connections to the school, a great post bac gpa (3.8+) and a good DAT will help get you an interview.
