Hey guys, I searched the fourms for this question but they all deal with dual degree schools (MD/PhD,MD/MPH). Im interested in MD/DO only schools and wanted to know if it is ok to get a LOR from the postdoc instead of the PI. I worked right under the postdoc and he knows me on a more personal level while the PI is in and out of the lab. I briefly see him and do not want a weak letter. I have the other letters covered (MD and science professor)but really wanted one from my postdoc to round it off nicely with research. Will this suffice or not?

It's common in this situation to have the Postdoc write the letter with the PI cosigning it. Is this possible in your situation? If not, then the Postdoc has the degree, just not a lot of academic credentials yet, but can still be sufficient.
This should be possible but by the time he actually writes it I dont know if the PI will truely remember me. I call the post doc for advice on his cell phone all the time (he encourages it) but the PI might forget me in the sea of students he see. Maybe he will still cosign it and just trust the postdoc.🙄
