Quick question, which seems to be addressed elsewhere, but not for post-docs.

Does anyone have an idea if sites tend to wait until after the application date before they decide who they will interview?

I applied to about 15 sites (alot I know) and 2 of them asked me to come interview (yay!), before the application date has happened (one was due 12/15, got a call before that date) and the others are due 01/05. All but 1, were not APPA CAS. The ones I applied to are not listed on the major post doc thread.

What I am wondering is, since I submitted my app weeks ago (was ahead of the curve), should I assume that the other 13 sites saw my app and passed?

Thanks!

Ditto what AcronymAllergy said. The place where I ended up on postdoc had one of the earliest deadlines, but I did not hear back from them until later than most of the other places I applied.... so I was worried, but obviously it worked out just fine as they were my 1st choice and here I am 🙂 So don't waste time stressing about how long it takes you to hear back. Many sites are probably busy with internship and grad student applications right now too and those sites are probably even more likely for there to be a delay between your submission and their asking you for an interview.

Agreed - the site with the earliest deadline was the site I heard from the latest, and also the place I ended up doing my postdoc. Don't read too much into it!
