Just here for some reassurance. Just had an orgo exam. I knew the stuff really well, but I took so long on some of the questions that I ended up leaving one answer blank and scribbled something for another. And then I think I made some stupid mistakes on top of that, couldn't remember some terminology which screwed up an entire problem... It just sucks, cause I knew it!

Just need some reassurance that I can get through it.

some times freaking out is better than thinking you did great after an organic chemistry exam (in my opinion). don't worry 🙂 theres always the next exam and if anything the final exam will take care of your overall grade. the important thing is to learn from your mistakes from this exam (which are skip through the questions if you're having a hard time answering in a few min, don't leave a question blank instead fill in something logical to get a few extra points (this some times works), make sure to go over terminologies). in the end i hope you did well 👍

i completely bombed a plant physio midterm and several genetics quizzes during my post-bac. and there were two chem midterms i totally fell short on. freaked out, got over it, and learned from it (honestly i think a lot of the time, "stupid mistakes" aren't stupid at all but due to a lack of understanding or preparation). anyways, **** happens, and you just have to move on and think positively. :luck:

It's funny and I don't understand why it works this way, but I always end up doing really well on an exam when I'm freaking out afterwards. I think it's because I freak out knowing exactly what I did wrong, which would mean I'd have to really understand the material. When I walk out of the exam feeling confident, it's almost a guarantee I didn't get the grade I want. Probably because I made stupid mistakes.

I sweated my physics exam last night. Stayed an extra half hour after I finished just to recheck my work (the prof was being really generous about time - not sure what that was about). I changed a couple answers, which will no doubt hurt me in the end.

Stay cool and focus on the next thing. You'll get your test back soon enough.

Now I'm probably the wrong person to tell you this since I'm known to freak out easily, however, I wouldn't go crazy over this one exam. I epically failed a physics test one semester and still managed an A in the class (worship the curve!) Since we're talking orgo here, I do recall some monster problems where I def. felt some time pressure. Does your professor give practice exams? Be sure to do them under timed testing conditions.

Above mentioned physics test aside, my freak outs were usually unwarranted so you may be pleasantly surprised. 😛 You can get through it, you got this far already!

In the past week I have gotten an 81 on a chem test and a 66 on a physics test. Chem was slightly above the class average, physics was slightly below. I'm bummed out because I know that I could have done better on both of them. I actually froze up for the first third of both tests. That's never happened before. I've never freaked out during a test. I was dead tired for both tests because of work (18 hour shift day before, 430AM wake up before 8PM test, etc etc, wah wah) I left both knowing that I bombed. I only actually completed 2/3 of the physics test post freak out, so I guess a 66% is good considering.

Anyway I've learned my lesson and I will most definitely not be working the day of tests anymore. I hope that I still have time to bring both grades up, I'm more worried about another borderline panic attack during a test. That was the absolute worst.

Having a meltdown in a test is one of the worst feelings in the world. I know how you feel Henri. I got my chemistry midterm tomorrow and feel like I'm going off to the slaughterhouse.

That's too bad. I feel you for sure. I have at least one test each quarter where I don't do great and usually recover accordingly, or get saved by the curve.

Just today I was in a chem test that was brutal. The material wasn't that bad, but the thing was ridiculously long. In fact, it was the size of my final of earlier chem classes in the sequence. Anyways, nobody finished on time. She had to tell everyone about five times to stop working because nobody had finished. I probably got a C, if I'm lucky, and just like you, I'm frustrated because I really knew the material.

All you can really do it evaluate and see where you can improve. I often find if it is the first test, like the one I just took, it is the hardest because you don't know the prof's style yet.

TRUST THE CURVE. And if, when you get the exam back, you really did do badly, learn from your mistakes and crush the final. You'll be fine.

You'll be fine. I had an organic test on Monday and did TERRIBAD. Nobody is perfect, and organic is tough.

Just got out of my 2 hour physics midterm...im exhausted. community college professors don't curve either, which makes it all the more unnerving.
