Taking MCAT this upcoming fall (2015)

Option I: Apply for Spring admission at a post-bacc/masters
Option II: DIY, take courses at nearby school for academic year of 2015-2016 and THEN apply for Fall admission post-bacc/masters

They both leave me with applying to med school in 2017. Which is the better choice? Or are there other choices??

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP 🙂

don't take the MCAT yet. you're not done with undergrad. you're not in shape to get a good score.

you only hurt yourself by invoking "top" UC with a GPA that's 2-3 std devs below the UC med school matric average.

two basic options:

1. make friends with DO. in this case you need to invest maybe one very full time very strong mostly science academic year before you apply. there's a bit less urgency to apply early, so your MCAT date can be early summer.

2. or work on a 2-3 year plan before applying MD, where you demonstrate for the first time that you thrive under a heavy load of mostly science, sustained for multiple years. such as a 2nd bachelors, maybe also an SMP. respect your competition.

obviously every grade you get that isn't an A is a step away from med school. lots and lots and lots of A's.

best of luck to you.
