post graduate speciality prog in the states

hey,
i am bds graduate from india ... i wish to apply directly for post graduate in any speciality progrm in dentistry .. is it possible to do so by only clearing nbde 1 n 2 .. or do they seek for some additional requirement too.. another thing is that if i happen to do mds can i practice in the states or i am only applicable for academic purposes..
now that nbde has changed to pass / fail criteria .. arey they changing the admission requirements coz i ve heard that nyu is also askin for a dat examination ..
pls help ... by sharing ur ideas ...

you are eligible to apply to post-doctoral specialty programs with your degree. you have to research the programs' requirements. every programs' requirements are different. go to PASS website and use the search engine. Only some certain states allows you to practice as a specialist in their State if you dont have a US DDS degree. you can get that information on www.ada.org
 
thanks a lot ... will surely do that ... basically wat i meant is that hav ftd s gotten admission to post grad speciality programs...? .. n secondly is it btr to dds or masters in sum specialty without dds..
 
I can't comment on being better or not but yes ftds have got into post doc programs directly without going through DDS programs. You might be asked to have a GRE and TOEFL score also.
 
thanks patata ... wanted to know that the masters in sum speciality that is the post doctoral prog.. do they help you fetch sum jobs in the future as a lecturer..(without dds in usa ..)
