Post Indian BDS Career options in USA

Hi, I am a BDS 2nd year student in India. I am trying to find out the career opportunities in USA. I have been hearing mixed views on post career options in USA after having earned BDS in India.

View1: Some are saying that, the degree earned in India has no value and study Dental Sciences in USA all over again.

View2: Some are saying that, after earning BDS from India, one can appear for board exams in USA and become eligible for practice. Also warned that the passing rate on the board exams is very low. It seems there are some training institutions for this board exam.

Could you please clarify and provide me the right perspective on the career options in USA with an Indian BDS degree.

I appreciate any light shed on this darkness.

hey there,

one of my cousins was in the same situation as you. from what I know, you should or have to go and complete an international standing program from a dental school here. therefore, u have to apply with DATS, TOEFL,etc.. But the programs are usually only 2 or 3 years long. A lot of schools have these programs and are competitive to get in to. thats pretty much it.

Thanks. Its a bit clear now. Where do I find more information on DATS. I know about TOEFL. Is this International Standing program funded here...meaning would there be a possibility of getting scholarship based on DATS/Toefl.
