Does anyone know if calling adcoms before October 15th can be informative about one's status? I interviewed early for what is likely my top choice and hearing before any official letter would allow me to cancel an expensive trip for another interview. I understand that admissions committees do not appreciate getting harassed by nervous applicants but I think by next week a decision would likely be reached. Thanks!

It will be very informative for you because you'll loudly broadcast to the Admissions dean that you're a special snowflake with a high sense of entitlement who has not an ounce of patience....and if the Adcom hasn't met, speed up a change in your status from Accept to Reject.

Don't do it. From the AAMC Traffic Rules:

Notify all Regular MD program applicants of their acceptance on or after October 15* of each admission cycle, but no earlier. Schools and programs may notify applicants of admissions decisions other than acceptance prior to October 15.

You should call. It will help open up a spot for a smarter candidate.

lol you think schools give a **** about your money? What gave it away? The absurdly expensive primary and secondary fees PER SCHOOL or was it the fact that you're required for an on-campus interview during the work week with absolutely no financial support for planes/lodging with sometimes as little as a weeks notice to fly across the country?

It's almost as if they do the exact opposite of caring, really. 😛

Do schools tend to send out post interview rejections once the decision has been made or do they wait until after the October 15 date when they start to send out acceptances
