This cycle, I've applied to 5 DO schools back in August/September as a Florida resident:
LECOM-Bradenton (accepted)
TOURO-NY (accepted)
NYCOM
PCOM
NOVA

Originally, NYCOM and Nova were my top 2 choices but I haven't heard back from them for months. They are well established schools. NYCOM is close to my friend and family. I want to move back to New York etc etc. I had many reasons.

But now that I've made the decision to go to LECOM-Bradenton, I couldn't be happier. I've kind of talked myself out of wanting to go to the other schools because of X,Y,Z (location:beach, warm weather, low tuition, PBL).

Has anyone else felt this way after making their initial decision/deposit?
Should I call Nova and NYCOM for a status update even though I can't justify paying that much more for tuition and cost of attendance?
Will the higher price tag at those schools be worth it in the end?

Face it, your a beach bum now 😀 It's totally cool though, I can't say I blame you

I would say it is not worth the extra price. Lecom-B is fine and the kids from there, at least the ones I've met, have some outrageous board scores.

thanks for the input guys. I'm surprised that there are a good number of people who are willing to pay the hefty price for Nova. They must really dislike PBL or something... But then again, as LECOM's rep goes up, I bet tuition will follow.

Hello, I am also from florida. I was wondering what your stats were? I was surprised by seeing the schools you chose because those are the ones I want to get into. I would love to get into nycom. But I think Lecom seems like a good option because pbl rocks from what I heard.

Anywhoo your stats please?

It's difficult getting into NYCOM as an OOS applicant. 80% of matriculating students are in-state.

~3.5 c/sGPA
Balanced mid/low 30s MCAT

Congrats on getting into med school. Hopefully I will have the same luck as you did.
