Hey guys!!

Question:

So I interviewed late february and my top choice school and receieved a "delaying a decision" on March 15th. I sent a general letter of interest on March 30th. For the past few weeks I have started a new internship that is extremely clinical which is something that I am lacking in my application (extensive volunteering and shadowing but no clinical activities such as scribing, emt, etc) so it's definitely something new to my application. I want to update them on my new internship but since I sent a general letter of interest about why I like this school and think its the best fit for me about two and half weeks ago I am not sure if that would look pushy or not. Also fyi they said that ongoing decisions for delayed post interview will be sent out ongoing from this week until May 6th to tell me Y, N, or WL. I want to send an update now before it's too late because I would really much rather be accepted than put on WL (which I am thinking is most likely since the school does post interview rejections but I didn't receive one)

Also, Ive been accepted to two other schools one of which is significantly more expensive and the other which has a PBL curriculum that I have realized is not a good learning style for me.

Advice would be very much appreciated thanks!

If you're asking an opinion on sending an update, I would say to do it. Sure, you do run the risk of looking "pushy", but I think giving a genuinely-substantial update on new activities is important -- since you say it's something that was lacking on your application. Of course, the question is then whether or not you'll actually get something useful out of this new activity in the few months before classes start... So make sure you discuss how this makes you a better applicant/future medical student. 🙂

Congratulations on the other two acceptances as well.

It's too late in the game to cover a deficit in clinical and volunteering hours. I suggest not to send yet another letter with a basically uneventful update.

it's not really a deficit Ive volunteered for several years it's just sort of something different on my application. I help the doctor with imaging, doing field tests for peripheral vision, scribing, writing his prescriptions, dilating eyes and im learning how to use some of the other appartuses used in eye exam. However, I definitely don't want to send a letter if it looks pointless and uneventful. Thanks for your input as well!

Looks like you're grabbing at straws this late in the game. Don't think they'll care that you put something together last minute no matter the reason behind it. Sit back and cross your fingers.
