Anyone hear anything recently (last month or so)?
If so, how long was the wait?
If not, how long you been waiting for?

thanks.

Interviewed over a month ago...waiting to hear back. My interviewer told me it can take as long as 8-12 weeks..

I was under the impression that most acceptances were handed out in March... ?

I interviewed in early December and have not heard anything yet. I do not know how often the admissions committee meets or when, but I hear that they contact you pretty soon after decisions on your application are made. They do specifically state in the post interview letter that you will be contacted as to whether accepted, waitlisted, or rejected by April 15.

This is my first choice school (I grew up in the St. Louis area) and attended Washington University as an undergrad. Wash U's program is by far the best medical education program for me. I cannot wait to hear back from them. Hopefully it will be good news.

If anyone else has info on the specifics of ADCOM meeting dates or other info please reply. Thanks,

Bruce

hmm..
never got the post interview letter.. but i've been away for a while.

do you mind telling me any other useful info in it? thanks.

I had heard rumors that some earlier apps heard of acceptances within 2 weeks.. which is what got me all nervous now, a month after. I interviewed Dec. 9th.

Guess we just wait. Anybody else with news?

mmz6 and others,

All that the letter says is what was posted earlier: Everyone will hear something by April 15, and that you may be contacted earlier if specific decisions on your individual application are made.

I think that I may have gotten this letter a few days prior to the interview now that I think about it.

I also heard that some people hear back within two weeks and others may take months. I think this is dependant on how bad Wash U wants you (or doesn't want you). It may also have something to do with the timing of your interview and the ADCOM meetings, but who knows.

I have heard that on November 15, the Wash U ADCOM offers acceptance to 12 stellar applicants per region (4 regions) for a total of 48 initial acceptance offers. I do not have any idea how other offers are made or given out ( I think they also gave out some offers around Dec 10, but I'm not for sure). I'm sure there is someone out there that can offer more insight into this, but until then we will just have to wait and see.

Good Luck!

Bruce

I'm in the same boat - interviewed Dec. 10 and haven't heard anything yet. I got the same letter - saying that everyone will hear by April 15, maybe before, in the packet of info that they gave me at my interview. So I guess we're just playing the waiting game until then. 😕

Nothin yet, and I interviewed over 2 months ago. They do contact really stellar applicants in their eyes with both an acceptance and a request to apply to a school sponsored scholarship, but I believe they do that in early Dec. So I suppose we just have to wait! 🙂

I interviewed at Wash U on 27 OCT 03 and received a call on 13 NOV 03 that I was admitted to the School. The concensus I have read and heard is that if they want you, you will hear within 2-3 weeks, otherwise, it may take quite a long time.

Best Luck,
Coops

I interviewed early december and have not heard anything yet

Interviewed December and no word. Any December interviewees hear anything?

Nope no response yet! Interviewed in Dec. and I am anxiously twiddling my thumbs. 🙄

Ditto on the mid-Dec interview/no response yet.

twiddle...

hi guys, have no fear, don't worry about having waited so long... because i interviewed in either late sept or early oct and i just heard about my acceptance from them this weekend!!!!!! so it could happen to you too!!!!!!!!! even if it's been forever it still doesn't mean that it's a rejection, you might still hear happy news soon!!! mine was overnight/express mail, i'm not sure why...maybe it was previoulsy lost, anyway, good luck everyone!! 😍

I was in mid december and I'll keep my fingers crossed 😛

Congrats Priscy! I interviewed early September and haven't heard a thing. 😕 But I guess there's still chance then.

bumping it one more time...

anybody thinking of calling them?

mmz6

I interviewed in mid November and still haven't heard. I called the office a couple weeks ago, and they said my application is still "in review" and that if you're in this situation they will let you know something by April 15. Let the wait continue...

bump... getting anxious by the day

Maybe the school went Out of Business. Just an idea.

Yeah, I was just complaining that the school went out of business.

Today they had a committee meeting, and Dean Walters called me to say that I got in. My first acceptance!

I love you Wash U, and I'm sorry I ever doubted you.

wow!!!! congrats dalo!

congrats. I guess I still need to play the waiting game.

THanks! Lack of immediate phone call doesn't mean you're not accepted though.

They do their committee meetings by geographic region - all I know is the West met today. Also not all interviewers call their applicants to say the good news, like mine did. They officially notify by mail.

By geographic region? What the poopoo is that about? I don't know which is worse--competing with other premeds from my undergrad school or competing with other premeds from my home state... blah!

they really only meet by region so that the interviewers are familiar with your undergradute institution. or so they said at the interview.

(P.S. so I should expect a phone call later today now? 😉 )

Some other schools also do that as well. I actually think it's better because the same group of people review all applicants from certain schools. Things like inflated grades or deflated grades become more obvious.

Don't think of it that way...you're still competing with everyone else, it's just reviewing files by regions allow the reviewers to look more about the strength of academic programs at your school, the EC's opportunities available, etc.

so if i am from the southeast, but went to school in the upper midwest, what region am i in? Any guesses?

Most likely the region you went for school.

its where you did your undergrad, since the whole point is that the reviewers will be familiar with the grading system, honors system, what classes are considered to fulfill the premed requirements, etc.
each regional committee choses several applicants to be taken to the steering committee each time there is an admissions meeting. So you're competing on both levels, I guess

Hey, I was an august MCATer and was interviewed in mid/late november (i think). I got Wash U's acceptance letter today along with a scholarship invite.

So yeah, they're still accepting people from around that interview time.

Best of Luck,

-D
