Post-interview thank you letters

No, not the kind you write. I was wondering if anyone has received thank you letters or any other kind of correspondence FROM the program itself after you interviewed there.

yes, I have got something like that, but I don't know how much I should take that as a very good sign or whatnot. My advisor said that this kind of letter from PD is just like when we, the applicant, keep telling the PD how interested we are in their program. Since almost everyone says that, the credibility is not going to be assumed high. Also, if a PD says we are their top choice, I will think the truth is that PD has not seen all the applicants yet, how can s/he say we are their first choice? know what I mean?

If you don't mind me asking which school did you get it from? If you don't want to mention specifics, what state? I just got one so I guess I shouldn't put too much stock in it then, eh? Maybe the PD is just saying that up to this point you're one of their top applicants...or do you guys think certain programs send this type of letter out to everyone?
