Did anyone else get this status update after interviewing:

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 15, December 15, February 1, and March 15.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in mid-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

I think it may be a standard pre-Oct 15th message, but the "on hold" stirs me up a little bit....comments?

You're "on hold" only because they dont make the decision until Oct 15th. No worries, just 12 more days!! 😉

I got the same "hold" message a few minutes ago. Aren't you glad it wasn't a flat out rejection?

Yeah, don't worry about it. Everyone gets it unless they scored so bad at the committee that they receive a flat out rejection. Just check your email on Oct 15...and if you get nothing then, on Dec 15th...etc. They don't actually make a waitlist until March, so if you don't get an offer on the first offer date, but you're never rejected, then it is always possible that you will be accepted on the next offer date.

so does anyone's status say they are rejected or is everyone put on hold?

You can be rejected immediately if you score very high (high score=bad) at the committee meeting.

so it doesn't mean that we won't be accepted on October 15th? sorry i'm being paranoid.

If they hated you, you should have received an automatic rejection. Take a deep breath. It doesn't mean you will be accepted Oct 15th necessarily, but it means they liked you enough to keep you around and still in the running.

thank you for decoding their message for us:laugh: at times this whole process seems like one huge undercover operation. but hopefully mission: possible:luck::luck::luck:

Hahahaha, so true...I remember staring at those messages going, "huh?" And don't worry, it's definitely Mission😛ossible because I got in...and it wasn't easy. If you're ever bored and wanting a little inspiration, find the 2007 MCV thread. There are lots of stories of both easy acceptances and minor miracles. I was one of the miracles, lol. Good luck everyone. VCU is a great school.:luck:

wtf i just applied like a day ago wwtf u have an interview already

Man, I have an interview ON October 15th at VCU/MCV.....which means I won't hear anything for two months following the interview AT THE EARLIEST.

Damn. So much waiting. And they're a top choice of mine.

It's the morning of my interview right now and I check my email in the hotel lobby. I was wondering what the VCU message meant. I was like "hmmm...perhaps SDN will have a thread by now." SDN rocks!

Good luck. Let me know if you have any post-interview questions.:luck:

What was your DAT score, how did you impress them. What type of classes did you take.?

-I will appreciate any help or feedbacks.

it seems like I stillhave so much to plan, but I don't know where to begin. An what type of DAT books did you use.

Wrong forum, this is Pre-Allopathic. They're talking about VCU School of Medicine.
