So I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have a thread where we could post the general vicinity of where we matched in hopes of finding an SDN internship buddy. I suppose you could be as explicit as you want about the details but keep in mind it's a public forum.

So I'll start. Anyone here match to a UCC in North Carolina? If so, PM me!
 
I love this idea! 🙂 I'll be about an hour and a half north of NYC, Hudson Valley Area if anyone wants to hang! Even if you're in NYC area, let me know!
 
Hahaha I love the thread name! I'm headed to a Southern California VA for my internship next year! It's a huge geographic area I know... but anyone else?

Hi everyone! I will be interning in LA but my husband will be staying in San Diego. To offset the cost of two apartments I am 1) looking for a potential roommate in LA and 2) my husband will be looking for a roommate for our second bedroom here in San Diego. PM me if you know someone for either arrangement! 🙂

Anyone relocating to the Durham-Chapel Hill area feel free to PM me. I matched elsewhere but would be happy to share info. about the area. I also have a townhome that I'll be renting (furnished or unfurnished) since I'm going to be moving!

My Training Director sent out information of all the incoming interns and so I have everyone's names and emails. There's a total of five of us! So we have been emailing each other.

My TD did the same thing, but no one is emailing and I don't want to be the first to start!

It's been a while, but I honestly don't know if any of us really had any regular contact before maybe a month or so prior to classes beginning. Although that's certainly not to say you couldn't just go ahead and send out a quick email today. My internship cohort, for example, started communicating almost right after the match results came out.

I think it's one of those things where I know it doesn't matter hugely one way or the other, and whether we start communicating now or not (and if I'm the one to start it or not) are things that will have very little effect on anything, but the part of me that has been micromanaging everything since the beginning of this process is still afraid to take a step in the wrong direction! Heh. Even after matching, this whole thing is such a menace.

Haha no worries, understood. And my apologies for the beginning of my post not being particularly applicable--for some reason I thought this was the Ph.D./Psy.D. acceptance thread rather than the post-internship matching thread.

Hi there,
I got match to LA, San Fernando Valley. I just look on google maps and our placements are somewhat far. But let me now if you want to meet. I don't know anyone in LA or California so I am looking for friends 🙂
 
We now have all the emails of our next intern cohort group per an email from our internship director. Since this internship site is in my hometown, I was thinking about hosting a party for our new incoming intern cohort. I think it would be 'team building.' 🙂

My doctoral program has a tradition of doing this among all the incoming classes...just makes for a more intimate cohort.

Any thoughts about this? Anyone think it's over-stepping my bounds? We will be a cohort of 8, so it'll make for a great party...especially if peeps bring significant others.
 
I might wait until after internship starts so anyone that can't make it won't feel left out on the first day. But I might be over thinking it.

My cohort did exactly that: they got together a couple times before internship started and very much enjoyed it. I actually didn't get into town until just about the weekend before we went "live," so I wasn't able to make any of those events, but we quickly made up for lost ground within the first few weeks.

This is completely irrelevant, but I'm from around there and hope to make it back to the beach someday, haha, congrats on matching and looking to live in a beautiful place!
 
Thank you so much! I can't even tell you how excited I am, and the location just adds to it. Finding an affordable place is going to be a challenge, but I'll live in a shack if it's near the beach. 😉

It means private message. I think if you click on the person's SN there is an option to "start a conversation." I'm pretty sure that allows you to privately message the person.

I've got one room available in an awesome 4 bed 4 full bath house in Hillcrest (8 min walk to hospital). Currently we have 3 interns, 2 male and 1 female and are looking for a fourth. The house was just redone and is beautiful, if interested let me know and I'll send you pics. Rent is 1048/person.
