Hi! Can someone please explain the examination/licensure process to become a practicing Optometrist?

I understand that Optometry students must successfully complete NBEO 1-3. Then, afterwards, what is the process?

It depends on the state in which you want to practice. After you have graduated, you fill out an application for a license for that particular state. You may need to meet specific requirements such as certain scores on certain sections of boards. Some states will require you to take a law examination to ensure you understand the rules of that state. Some states will require you to take tests in injections. You may need to pass an oral examination with the state's board. You will do background checks and complete general information about yourself and credentials. You will need to pay a fee for your license to be processed.
