I would really like to know if there are any postbacc programs that international students can apply to even with really bad GPAs. I have an overall GPA of 2.3 and i am a ghanian. i have looked at majority of the postbacc programs out there and they all say you ahve to be a US citizen or hold a permanemt resident visa, both of which are not easy to attain with recent circumstances.
Please i just need to be pointed in the right direction
thanks a lot

Good luck to every one who is trying to get admissions into various med schools and congratulations to those who have secured theirs.

You may have to look at post-bacc programs at private schools, but even then that may be harder as they are more competative. Most of the public schoo post-bacc programs I know require at least a 2.7 GPA, while the private school ones have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Others will also require having taken an MCAT, but it is my impression that this criteria can be waived at some schools.

You may have to resort to doing an unofficial post-bacc program where you take classes at most schools in a non-degree earning program. Aslong as you take upper division undergrad classes, it will count as post-bacc. However I think most schools require at least a student visa. Now that I think about it, all school's require some form of student visa to even register for classes. So you will probably have to cut through the red tape and bump up that GPA. Its not impossible to get in with a low GPA, but you'd want it to be up passed the 3.0 range. Some schools screen GPA's so if you don't make the cut-off (usually 3.0-3.2) you are out after the first applications.

I am an international student finished post bacc program, currently set for april MCAT. I can probably give you tons of information. BUT being a pre-med and international student is really difficult and complicated. As far as I know, I am the only person in this category in my post bacc program history, and they will not going to have any more international student. It is not the easy and it is not that simple as undergraduate student (as many peopole would imagine) Pls PM me.
