If youve decided to do an informal postbacc, and you want to take the most beneficial courses in order to prove to admissions you can handle upper level courses, Do you think they want you to do it at ONE school (which often times have course times overlapping and I wouldnt be able to take all the courses i wanted bc they meet at the same time, so therefore id have to wait till NEXT spring in order to take the missed course as its only offered during this semester at this one school)? Or would it look bad if you take the courses at a few diff schools within the same semester in order to be able to take all the courses you want.
Do they care how many schools youve taken courses at? Does it look bad if when you send your transcripts in to aadsas during the app process that you have taken courses at multiple schools (during your post bacc that is, or maybe even undergrad i guess if you transferred etc)? Or is it just the course and content and your GRADES that count?
any advice/comments would be so helpful 🙂 thanks

At the end of the day, it will all be factored into your undergrad gpa, however in the coursework section of aadsas, is where the school breakdown will be, with what courses were taken, when and where.
I was thinking, maybe being able to create your own schedule, and take your targeted specific courses that you're after is a benefit of doing an informal postbac (or i guess some would say this is a hassle finding their own courses and thats why they do formal postbaccs)? So you can succesfully complete all the courses you want, within your specific time frame? Or is this bad logic. Open to opinions.

I can't speak on behalf of how the adcoms look at this... but I had to do a similar thing a few years ago.

I was doing my informal post-bacc at MSU (michigan state univ), the 100-level biology courses, I was not able to get into them because.... they were always scheduled at the worst times of the day (example 10 am 3-days a week and 4pm lab that lasted 3 hours).... I was working fulltime and I couldn't just skip around my job....

So I was forced to take my 2 biologies at a near by Community college (evening course, worked out perfectly). At the same time I was taking biology at CC, i was also taking 300 level class at MSU..... No one ever brought this up as being a problem.....

Your overlapping problem seems like a real issue. If they were to ask you about this, Im sure they'll be more than satisfied with your explanation.

thanks for your response dentalworks 🙂
yea currently Im scheduled to take couses at 2 diff colleges which works perfectly with my schedule.......however i came across a biochem course at a THIRD school....that meets at night it would be absolutley perfect with my schedule since i cant take it at either of the schools and its also not offered over the summer anywhere around me. however.......i feel like i need to NOT take it bc it will look bad that i took it at a third school (therefore i didnt register for it bc i dont want to look like a freakk to adcoms if they look down upon this). But I feel like biochem is more important than the course it'd be replacing, which is just a regular bio course that i'm basically just taking for bio credit at this point

Also, at this point, i dont really care where i take my courses (well, im not taking any at a community college, but still ) as long as i take "important" sciences, do well and raise my gpa. However, i feel like since thats ALL i care about, maybe im disregarding something that they wont like, ie-too many schools? confused

i have taken courses at 4 schools( technically only 3, cause the 4th one was from high school " college course) and it has not really effected me as far as I know ( temple didn't mind it.haha)

Molar3~

If you don't take biochem at the 3rd school... are you ever able to take it at either school #1 or 2?

if not, then you really have no choice but to take it (assuming of course you really wanna have biochem before dental school)
