Potential energy & trolls

Have you ever noticed that when 1 troll thread happens that a whole wave of them appear afterwards? Its like potential energy... The trolls break the wall/dam and come rushing in...

Hmm this would be a interesting psychological experiment..
hypothesis : If one troll happens then many more trolls will happen .

but yah seriously... About 5 troll threads today... URM, DO v.s MD, nonsci v.s sci .

so I'm making a sanctuary thread for us all.

Sociology's basically group psychology on a large scale. The literal meaning of the word sociology is "study of society".

Think of a dam, 1 troll slips out as the damn begins to break and then the whole damn collapses and releases all the potential energy as kinetic energy.
Well not totally potential energy buy close enough lol...

Yup, but like my sociology prof says "the difference is sociology studies massive institutions like marriage and health care on human behavior, psychology studies group dynamics, individual behaviors and mental processing. "

But true.. it could be at the same-time a study of sociology. I think either way it'll be a amazingly interesting experiment to test. Haha

That's a comparison between sociology and psychology, not the definition of sociology.

It really depends on what you're trying to focus on. Psychology would concentrate on how the individual behaves based on the presence and actions of others. Sociology would focus more on the entire group. So maybe it should just fall under social psychology...

lol.. XD social psychology is my favorite field of psychology. Also my backup plan in case i decide against medical school lol.. but yah its the BEST field of psych .

Yes, that would be social psych. Soc touches on it but you'd get more from it from a social psych perspective. In which case, the first troll changed the social norm (social psych) and was rewarded by attn from members (learning psych). Further, other people saw how that troll did it and tried it themselves, becoming trolls themselves (social learning theory).

I like your theory better. I think I would have given you an A on a social psych paper if you'd have explained these troll pheromones.
It'd be a good break from the typical dry, copied directly from the book explanations! LOL

I so need to get published .
My explaination is in my book.. called Woe's of a pre-med, the story of a thousand wtf's.
But heres a sample, the troll is a under-developed organism that has not undergone psycho-sexual development properly and as such is fixated upon anything that moves. However due to social norms the troll under-grows a development over the internet and a addiction to porn. This addiction makes them extremely unsocial and as such they develop attraction to any direct emotional fielding towards them; may that feeling be hatred or love. Thus the troll craves the attraction, and due to in-group dynamics we can assume that trolls have developed a sub-culture of languages. It is safe to assume that the troll also has created a scent which they likely expatriate in the form of horrible grammar and obscure statements.
