Hello all,

I'm attending a conference this next week and am presenting a paper. I was wondering if anyone has seen the use of Prezi at conferences and if there are any opinions about it. I understand that it would be smart to make sure that its very professional, but even then, would it be better to stick with traditional powerpoint? Any info/suggestions/experiences would be appreciated.

I have not seen anyone use Prezi, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done! However, I think my biggest concern would be if the conference would be able to accommodation a presentation format outside of ppt.

I personally find Prezi to be really distracting and an ineffective way to present information (at least in the ways I've seen it used), so I would groan a bit if I saw Prezi used for a paper presentation. However, I'm not a Prezi user, so there may be ways to make it less flashy that I don't know about.

Yep, the only Prezis I've seen have been overly flashy and borderline motion sickness inducing, but I guess there could be someway to use the software well that I'm unaware of?

Same.

I used Prezi at a conference last fall and got a ton of compliments from the moderator, other presenters, and participants (including a follow-up email asking the name of the software I used). I would maybe check with the conference first to make sure it doesn't need to be in Power Point for some reason, otherwise go for it!

I think it is is annoying, and was recently at a conference where a presenter used it and actually warned the audience that it may induce epilepsy. She was kidding, but it is still telling.
