Hi all! I am applying for the AEGD program this year and I have a question. Since the PPI is becoming online evaluation only without having the option of sending a recommendation letter directly to PASS, should I ask my better evaluators to do the PPI or the PEF? Thanks.

I also have some questions that I could use some help on regarding this. I have been practicing general dentistry for a few years so I am a little out of the loop now. I'm planning on applying to OMFS this summer and its unclear to me which evaluation I am supposed to be getting, PPI or PEF. I understand the difference between the two, and I realize the PPI is mandatory and PEF appears to be optional(?). My question is this: should I still be getting PEFs from my evaluators? Even the same evaluators who fill out the PPI? I contacted a couple programs directly about this. Fresno said they wanted no PEFs and UofP/Highland didn't seem to know the difference (at least who I talked to didn't). The PASS program search engine seems to indicate that the PEF is completely optional. However, the PPI seems very impersonal. If anyone is able to enlighten me on how this is really supposed to work I would appreciate the help. Thanks!

They keep making changes to the PASS process seemingly every year. Therefore, even recent applicants can't truly help the ones going through the process all that much (unfortunately). Best bet is to ask the programs directly what is preferred, though it sounds as if you have been doing this already. Best of luck in the process.
