Hi all,

Quick Question: I'm doing a clinical practicum as an undergrad with a program that only operates during the academic year. I started last fall and will be continuing again next fall. On my CV, do I have to / should I show the break (i.e., September 2008-May 2009, August 2009-present), or is such a distinction unnecessary (September 2008-present)?

Thanks!

I'd say it's probably unnecessary but, I guess it's a good question. I've never had to deal with that though, so wait for more responses.

I would be as accurate on your CV as possible. If by "only operates during the academic year," you mean they actually physically close up shop, I would show the gap and list it as two separate entries.

I was a research assistant in a lab only during the school semester from Fall 2007-Winter 2008. I didn't put any distinctions (ie. "Summers off") in my CV. If asked about the experience in an interview, however, I'd be forthcoming in clarifying my time spent there.
