Dear friends,

Could anyone suggest any good source of reading regarding practical management of complications from Radiation treatment in the ward? As I am starting my rotations in Radiation oncology soon. Thanks!

Though I applaud your enthusiasm, the management of RadOnc complications is not really a ward issue. They are best handled in a multi-disciplinary setting w/ oncologists of different persuasions. Generally, acute on-treatment issues are handled by us directly.

A similar analogy would be asking if there is any source of reading for management of surgical complications when you see outpatients. The answer would be no. You call the surgeon, tell him what you think, and (if need be) send the pt to the ER.

this is correct but also symptoms will depend upon where youre being treated. and again gfunk's assesement of the issue is pretty on.
