No reason to be worried this early. That's an excellent starting score. You'll be fine. Relax and learn!
Considering that 17 is roughly the average for DAT test takers that's a pretty alright starting point! If you've got sufficient resources and put in adequate time/dedication, there's hardly any reason as to why you won't crank out a good looking DAT score after 6 months of studying! Just make sure you factor in enough time to take practice exams. The sooner you can start on those (after reviewing enough material) the better!
I wouldn't worry too much about your initial DAT scores considering they won't be reflective of your actual DAT scores following months of practice. However, use them to gauge where you are in the learning process. This can cut down the time you need to spend studying certain areas while allowing you to focus on your weaknesses.
I was around a 17/18 when I first started. I'm around a 20 now but the thing is I started getting familiar with the DAT in the summer and didn't look at it much in the fall. I just picked it back up again 2.5 weeks ago and am cramming super hard for my test soon. I know I can be getting mid 20s on practice if I cut back on careless mistakes and try to think a little more critically. The DAT destroyer is really helpful for thinking critically and doing challenging and helpful problems! You're studying way more than I am. I'm studying a total of 5 weeks; 9 if you count the light work I did in the summer to get a grasp of it.
