What sources should I use for practice questions during the first 2 years.

I am afraid of running out of material for Step 1! I had this problem with the MCAT and don't want to deal with it again.

If you possess the ability to remember the questions that well from doing them a year or more in advance then I personally wouldn't worry about it and just use USMLE world and if you aren't on a budget Kaplan Qbank as well.

There's no such thing as running out of material. For example, if you do UWorld twice, you'll probably do a bit better the second time around since you remember some of the questions. That just means that the predictive value decreases, but it's still valuable in terms of preparing you for Step 1.

Having said that, your best sources for practice questions during the first two years are old exams from the courses you're taking. BRS and other review books are decent as well.

I used pretest questions in MSI then got USMLERX as well as Robbins Question book in MSII- during the 3 months leading up to Step I went through UW 1.5x. Overall that is a lot of questions- there is also Kaplan qbank which some use- I choose to do RX in the year because they have FA screen shots and it helped me to annotate faster and get more familiar with FA before dedicated time.

I more or less did the same thing.

Most of my classmates and the M2's above us did this. Old tests and BRS.

We don't have access to old exams, since our professors like to re-use questions.

I did Kaplan qbank all throughout basic sciences and used Uworld for the final 6 weeks of preparation. I found that Kaplan questions are more nit picky and so they are better for shelf exams. Uworld questions are more similar to real step questions so they are better last minute prep.

Any other resources for M1 year. I tend to go through the BRS ones pretty fast (although they are super helpful), and my school doesn't give out practice questions...

Have you tried the Pretest series yet, I used them a lot like it. Also Lange QandA, First Aid QandA, Kaplan Qbook. Those should have enough enough questions for a typical M1 students.

Use USMLERx during M2, and save UW for dedicated study. Don't do practice questioms during M1. It's a waste of time.

I agree boards practice questions are a waste of time in M1, but practice questions in general can be helpful for class exams during M1. I know I personally tend to focus better if I'm doing something, as opposed to just reading/trying to memorize something.

For example, I think the Guyton physiology book really helped me do well in physio.
