At our school, preparation for Step 1 seems to be well streamed and organized, everyone's kind of doing it at the same time. They even organized a practice test for us to take and see where we were starting off so we could tailor our studying accordingly. By comparison, Step CK seems like the wild west. I would like to take a baseline test to figure out what I do and dont know well, and tailor my schedule accordingly. Does anyone have a suggestion of where/how I might do that? I know NBME has some released exams, but it seems like a shame to burn one of those before I start studying, no? How did other people approach this?

Sure, but that doesn't seem to help establish a baseline. So that said, does anyone have a suggestion about a practice test to establish a baseline at the outset of studying?

You could use USMLE world practice test. It is only $35 instead of $50. Just a thought! Good luck!

For baseline, I would just do random 50 questions from UWorld and use the 100 cases to convert that to a score. Quick and easy.
