I am a recent dental school graduate. I have heard that some opportunities exist (american indian clinics, community health clinics, etc) to practice with types of temporary licenses without taking boards.

Does anyone know of states where this is allowed or specific opportunities like this? I am looking for a way to start practicing ASAP. My boards won't allow me to have a full license in my state til late this summer.

THANKS!

You can teach, consult, and own a dental practice without having a state license. You can't perform tasks only dentists can perform, according to your state, until you have state licensure.

I taught, went scuba diving, and drank beer for 2 months until I got my license.

In NY you can take a residency instead of a board.... there may be some openings

You do not need a dental license to teach. Look at how many international dentists are teaching now in universities. They can even teach in the clinic because they work under the license of their supervisors.

You can also teach for Kaplan, Princeton Review, Board prep courses, CE departments etc.
