Does anyone know if this is legal in any states? After graduation, can a dental student work as a hygienist while waiting for their license to come in?
Thanks!

I am only familiar with a couple of states, but, in a word, no.

You must be licensed to perform whatever procedure you were performing.

Graduating from dental school does not license anyone to perform dental hygiene.

State board grants that license, and you must review the requirements for each state.

If you have maintained an active license as an RDH prior to dental school you could. Otherwise no, you’re an unlicensed professional and cannot practice until you have secured a license.
