Hi guys,
I am applying to Texas schools this cycle and I had a question about my practicing dentist LOR. So I went on a 10 day mission trip and worked very closely with a practicing dentist in Mexico. We hit it off well and were able to talk about many things including my journey and goals I have within the field. Since my shadowing hours are pretty spaced out among different dental offices I felt the most comfortable asking him for a letter. I called the schools I am applying to and the admissions office seems sketched out about it not being a dentist in the US. They finally came back at me with a "that should be okay." Out of every school I called none of them sounded super confident in telling me that this is okay. Does anyone else have a similar situation. I would hate for this letter to be unacceptable and have to rush to get another one.

Thanks

You're applying to US dental schools. Get a letter from a US dentist.

Wasn't really asking for an opinion. More like this will work or this will not work. But thanks!

It will work if they said it will. maybe its not ideal but if the rest of your app is good then you're fine. Maybe bring up the fact you shadowed many dentists...

Just tell them that when you are done with ds in the US you will be practicing in Mexico.
