I have a month before taking this test. Should I read a concise review like NMS Anesthesiology or select high-yield chapters from M&M? Thanks.

Why are you starting residency in January?

There's a subject outline here -

http://www.metricsinc.org/msec1.htm

The AKT 0 and 1 and 6 have a pretty limited scope, but several subjects one wouldn't think to study unless they saw the outline. Things like machine features, gas cylinder capacities, electrical safety. The pharm questions can be very specific as I recall.

If you're going to study for the AKTs I'd go with the chapters of M&M, Baby Miller, Big Blue, and Hall that fit the subject outline.

Baby Miller I thought was more than enough for the AKT 0,1 and 6. The AKT questions are relatively straightforward, either you know the answer or you don't. For my ITE prep I used Baby Miller, Big Blue, Hall, ACE questions and old published tests.
