Is it okay to contact a residency program just to say: I'm thinking about applying to your program and I'd like to know more? I've started getting letters from programs in the mail about their institution and why their program is good, so I thought maybe I should be doing the same thing to the programs. Thank you.

I think you'll find almost all of them will say "everything you need to know is on our website". This was the general consensus from people who had done what you are contemplating.

If you have a specific question which is not answered on the website or FREIDA you can certainly contact them, but its a waste of time if you're doing it because you think it will help you match at that particular program (ie, as a show of interest).
