I was talking with DoctorSaab about how he has decided to leave dentistry and become a member of NASA's Apogee Civilian Colonization program. From what he has told me the requirements to enter the academy are similar to that of what professional schools require. Can anyone tell me more info about this.... They have been having guest speakers appearing throughout the country at PPA meetings I heard.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask:

Did you mistakenly read "pre-dental" as "pre-astronautics?" 😉

Not sure if there are teeth on mars...maybe this is just me.

I think 1 year is the most frequent number I see being bandied about for a round trip to and from Mars...

I wonder what would happen if during that 1 year mission an astronaut develops a toothache? 😀

8 months travel time to mars.

of course, fuel for the return trip would be a bit of a problem.

There is the radiation problem? A 2 ? year trip to mars is equivalent of getting 2,600 chest x-rays. Average radiation for person living in US is equivalent to 7 chest x-rays a year. Those guys are coming back glowing.

I read that its 1 year to and from mars and 1.5 on mars.
