I had been under the impression that interviewing now always meant that you would be in the first round of acceptances or rejections coming in December.

So yesterday one of the schools told me that if i interview now, (yesterday), that I would probably not be in the first round of acceptances/rejections. So i called my friend who interviewed this exact time a few years ago, and was not in first round; he actually did not receive his acceptance until the first week of February :scared:

I was just assuming that if you interview pre december (at least a couple months before dec) than you would be in the first round of acceptance/rejections?

any thoughts?

Last year my friend got interviewed at Loma Linda pre december one (mid October) and wasn't notified of his rejection until mid to late February. Schools admissions committees move at their own pace. December 1 is not necessarily meaningful to them. As I mentioned in a previous post on another thread, Dec 1 is not closure day. The Adcoms can hold onto your application and not give you any answer until the first day of class. Boston U did send out final rejection letters until June or July of THIS year for last cycle. So best of luck for you...but you might not hear anything on Dec 1.

Dec 1 is just the earliest date that they can inform students they definitely want of acceptances. If they're still considering you, they'll hold onto your file.

There is no set date for rejections though.

december 1st just marks the first day that schools are able to extend acceptance to choice applicants. schools are not obligated to notify you of acceptance/rejection just because you interviewed prior to december 1st.
