  1. Pre-Dental
I recently graduated and am currently waiting for possible acceptance to a few pharmacy schools. The issue is that I have recently been contemplating on whether I want to pursue a career in pharmacy or change it to dental. I've always wanted to own my own business and I feel that dental gives me a better opportunity to do so. In terms of the field of study, I've always found both dentistry and pharmacy to be interesting. I also believe that I have the hand dexterity to excel in dentistry. What advice do you guys have for me? If I forgo pharmacy, what advice do you guys have so that I would be able to apply to dental school this upcoming cycle.

I dont know what the requirements are for Pharm Schools. But why do you think you have the manual dexterity for dental?

What are your stats? GPA, EC, PCAT scores?

Dental and Pharm have similar prereqs. Dexterity wise, I've always been a good artist and have been relatively good with sports such as basketball and football. I figure that these hand skills can translate over to the dental field.

As far as my stats. My GPA is 3.88; Sci GPA: 3.9+. For EC i've done stuff related to pharmacy, research (2 diff professors for roughly 2-3 years), volunteer at a local elementary school (helping kids out with literacy and math), etc. I never took the PCAT due to CA schools not requiring us to take it.

That's a great GPA to graduate with. Keep in mind that there are couple of courses that are highly recommended and required for some schools such as Biochem, Micro, A&P.

But otherwise it looks like you would do well in dental, if your DAT matches that GPA. But with a 3.9+ sGPA I think you'll be fine.

I know people are going to complain about how I have been plugging this book, but I have read a lot of info about dental school admissions, but never one from the point of view of a dental student, this guy describes an unsuccessful cycle, and then how he turned it around. there are interview tips since he took part in the interviews etc.. check it out if you like

I also read a book called how to get into " how to get into dental school" and that was written by a girl whom had a more straight forward experience.
