  1. Pre-Dental

Hello, I am a pre-dental who will be applying for this June. And i want some advise on what i should right now. So far, i have taken all the Gen bio, and Gen Chem, and ochem1. I am going to start studying to study for DAT, and hopefully take it maybe within 2 months. So, before i apply this June, i have some time to take other classes in the spring semester. My BCP GPA is around 3.1, and i want to raise my GPA and studying for the DAT at the same time.

1. So, my question is whether i should take physics 1 or plant biology, both classes with C's, and hopefully, retaking one of the two classes will raise my GPA. I have to pick one class out of the two, because i will be taking ochem and other GE classes. What do you guys think what should i take for the spring semester? I am pretty sure if the class is retaken, dental schools will average the two. Right?

2. Or should i just take two class, physics and plant biology, and save ochem for later. I have heard from others that ochem1 will be the major stuff that will be covered on the DAT, and i will study on my own for the rest. I don't want to risk myself by taking too many sciences classes, which will be like 4, and a GE class.

3. And is medical terminology a good class to take before the DAT? Now, i am planning on taking 1 GE class, ochem2, plant biology or physics, and biochem.

What do you guys think?

O chem 2 is very much on the DAT. You would be better off waiting till you finish or almost finished with that to take the DAT. Also, you don't need Med Terminology for the DAT. I think you should concentrate on getting A's on the science courses you have left to take instead of going back to retake your C's. No matter how much your school gives you forgiveness for classes you retake, if it is on your transcript, AADSAS is going to count it. Your class load is totally up to you. Do what you think will allow you to get A's.

hey, I am exactly on a track with you. I just finished orgo1 at SUNY, and I am thinking to take DAT next Feb. I just registered DAT, and only thing I should do is waiting for the mail from ADA.

I suggest option #1. Physics would be better to retake because it is a pre-req., but I don't think it will break you if you choose to retake plant bio. A medical terminology class is certainly a smart move for you, but I don't think D-Schools will care too much about it.

Yeah, these guys are right, worry about your pre-resquesites first... and i dont suggest taking the DAT before you finish organic chemistry 2. Finish your science classes before you retake classes that you got Cs on, because your if you get A's on the rest of your pre-reqs.. your GPA will go up... and you might not even need to retake your other classes.
